Help for Event List

How to find events       Top

The best way to find events is to go to the home page and select your area. You should also check areas that are in your proximity. For example, if you live in New Jersey and are willing to drive to New York, you should check both for events.

If you want to run custom searches, use the Event List page.

Use the various fields to retrieve events from the database. (Click here for descriptions of the fields.) Only events with all the specified criteria are displayed.

Be aware that Area is where the event is publicized. The Area is usually, although not neccessarily, also where the event takes place. However trips often take place somewhere else. For example, if the South Florida Ski Club runs a trip to Colorado, the Area is South Florida, not Colorado.

How to find national and international events, like conferences and trips       Top

The best way to find national and international events is to go to the home page, and select the national or international heading of your area, such as "United States" or "Europe". You can also find this same listing while viewing your area's events by selecting Trips+ national/international-area.

You can use the Event List page to search for national and international events. Specify Nation/Regionwide or Worldwide in the Publicize field to display a list of events published nationally/regionally or worldwide.

Specify Areaparent if you want to limit your search to a part of the world in which the event is publicized.

Do not specify an Area, unless you want only those events run out of an Area.

To find ongoing events using the Event List page, select "Ongoing" in the When field.

You should also select an Area to limit your search to your location of interest.

How to find ongoing and upcoming events at the same time       Top

One use for the Event List page, is to display both ongoing and upcoming events at the same time. To do this, leave the When field blank.

You should also select an Area to limit your search to your location of interest.

How to find upcoming events by date       Top

To find upcoming events using the Event List page, select "Upcoming" in the When field.

Typically you should specify the current date for the Datestart field and leave the to field blank. This displays the events that are upcoming. This will also show ongoing events that have not started yet.

To look for events that start between certain dates, specify those dates in the Datestart and to fields.

You should also select an Area to limit your search to your location of interest.
